Questions about living in Canberra and University of Canberra?

I originally from Spain, lived in Sydney for 8 years and moved to Canberra this year. Here are my questions:

Q.1 – I’m currently attending ANU, living in the city. But I’m planning to study at UC in the second semester and going to move to Belconnen since it’s much closer. I’ve never been to Belconnen, is living there like living in the city? (coz I like city- living, I don’t like quiet place.) What is the suburb population like? Who’s living in there?

Q.2 – My budget is under $180 a week (include everything), is it easy to rent a room in a nice apartment and close to Westfield, transport and UC?

Q.3 – How long would it take you from Belconnen Westfield to UC by walk?

Q.4 – Is UC a good Uni? (especially if I’m taking a interior/ graphic design/ language degree?)

Q.5 – Would it be an advantage if I speak languages (e.g. Spanish and Chinese) other than English when applying jobs in Canberra? Like working in the arts and design industry?

Q.1 – Belconnen is not a city. It is a whole region of suburbs.

Q.2 – You could probably find share accomodation around the Belconnen (town) area for that price. There are heaps of units in Belconnen. Surburbs you could also live in near UC would be Bruce, Kaleen, Page, Cook, Macquarie.

Q.3 – It takes about 10 minutes to walk from Westfield Belconnen to UC.

Q.4 – UC is a good uni which primarily focuses on teaching practical courses that will prepare you for the workforce whereas ANU is more theory/research based.

Q.5 – It is always an advantage knowing a second language. However, I do not see that it can be any more benefit in the arts and design industry unless you are in contact with international clients or working for a international company. It really depends on who you work for.
